Privacy Rights Clearinghouse
The Privacy Rights Clearinghouse is a nonprofit consumer education and advocacy project located in San Diego, California. Its purposes are to: (1) raise consumers' awareness of how technology affects personal privacy; (2) empower consumers to take action to control their own personal information by providing practical tips on privacy protection (3) refer consumers to appropriate agencies and organizations for further assistance; (4) documents consumers' concerns about privacy and alert government and industry policymakers to them; and (5) and advocate for consumers' privacy rights in public policy proceedings. The PRC publishes a series of fact sheets as well as a book, The Privacy Rights Handbook, containing practical self-help information for consumers. The director of the PRC is Beth Givens. |
